City Hoops recruiting is proud to welcome you to the first edition of Coaches Corner “Spotlight”. This is a special edition of Coaches Corner dedicated to coaches who will be featured for outstanding contribution to scholastic basketball players in the greater boston area. These coaches have demonstrated outstanding ability in player development and instruction.

This week’s Spotlight shines bright on four terrific coaches who donated their time and shared their knowledge with 50+ middle school players from grades 5-8 that participated in the New England Junior Best 40 presented by Hoopville held march 30th at Umass/Boston’s Clark Athletic Center.

Edson Cardoso, Jeff Jackson, Tyler Papadinis and George Rodriguez are in this edition of “Spotlight”. Coach Cardoso is the head boys basketball coach at Charlestown High. Jeff Jackson is a former high school at Milton academy, college coach at Simons college. Jeff also started and founded the AAU program Mass Appeal. Coach Rodriguez is the JV coach and top varsity assistant at Cambridge Latin high school. Coach Rodriguez is a former C.R.L player and has been on C.R.L staff for 5-years. Tyler Papadini is the Top assistant coach at Umass/Boston.

All four of these coaches volunteered their Sunday afternoon working on their craft; teaching and coaching 50 middle school boys how to improve and hone their skills. Each coach demonstrated his unique skill, knowledge and passion at the 4-hour clinic at the Clark Athletic Center. Parents and players alike raved about the high level of instruction, motivation and enthusiasm in which it was delivered.

We highlight these coaches as examples of how instruction can impact and improve development of players in the greater Boston area. In addition, we highlight each one of these coaches for his commitment to developing themselves professionally. In today’s fast track of a.a.u and grassroots basketball, there is plenty of opportunity for kids to have the ball rolled out to run up and down. But these coaches demonstrated that there is also great value in actually teaching kids how to play!
